Message: “Our Common Misconceptions” from Pastor Dan Trempala

    Pastor Dan Trempala - December 23, 2018

    Immanuel

    Immanuel

During Christmas and Advent, we sing praises that the Lord has fulfilled His promise to be Immanuel. Immanuel is one of the most revered names of God. In fact, there are 428 Lutheran Churches named “Immanuel” (5th most). But the name Immanuel only appears twice in the whole Bible (Isaiah 7:14 and Matthew 1:23). What is so incredible about God becoming Immanuel? Reading: Matthew 1: 18-25

    From Series: "Immanuel"

Advent and Christmas are times when we celebrate that God is not some distant deity who is detached from our lives. Rather, He is present. He is in the moment. He is aware and active in the circumstances and smallest details of life. He is Immanuel – God with us. But what does it mean for God to be with us? Is it simply an assurance of His presence to make you feel better? Is God present to give you someone to talk to or a shoulder to cry on? Is He present to guide you in decisions? These might be true but there is so much more. During this series, we will look at some places in God’s Word where Immanuel showed up. Come with us as we explore God’s Word and discover that there is so much more to the God who is Immanuel – God with us.
