Faith in Uncertain Times

In a world filled with viruses, death, war, and evil, how are we to face what feels like an unknowable future? What do we do with our anxiety regarding the days ahead? Paul’s two letters to the Thessalonians provides comfort and reassurance to those living in uncertain times. In uncertain times, we look to the future of Christ’s Second Coming and engage the world while awaiting His return. Join us each Sunday to discover how you can take these words to heart and face the future without fear.

April 19 | Do Not Be Uninformed
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
Paul wanted the church in Thessalonica to be thoroughly informed about the Second Coming of Jesus so they would not be afraid or confused. Like knowing the end of a movie, the Second Coming of Jesus gives us confidence in our lives today.

April 26 | Your Destiny
1 Thessalonians 5:1-11
Paul contrasts night and day, dark and light, to explain that believers should be different from the world not just in lifestyle but also in view of Jesus’ eminent return. The most important preparation for Jesus’ return is to be in right relationship with Him through salvation – rather than being caught up in predicting his return.

May 3 | He Who Calls You is Faithful
1 Thessalonians 5:12-24
We might not know the day or time of Jesus’ return, but we can always know God’s will for us is to live godly lives of faith trusting in the one who is faithful. We can trust God to be faithful to the end as we offer our lives in sacrifice to others.

May 10 | Let Christ Be Glorified in Me (Mother’s Day)
2 Thessalonians 1:3-12
Those who want nothing to do with God will receive their request when Jesus returns. We can’t base our understanding of the truth on what makes us comfortable, but instead on the person of Jesus.

May 17 | Stand Firm
2 Thessalonians 2:1-17
Paul encouraged believers not to be misled nor afraid concerning the Second Coming of Jesus. We can stand firm in the Lord when we know the truth.

May 24 | Do Not Grow Weary of Doing Good
2 Thessalonians 3:1-13
It is an error to refuse to live daily life wisely because Jesus is coming back. We should live wisely and responsibly in the present while waiting for the future with hope.
