POPLC Director of Operations

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Reports to the Senior Pastor
Full-time role
Salary based on experience
 

Summary of Key Responsibilities

The Director of Operations (D.O.) is an active communicant member of the congregation who engages with the staff, pastors, and congregation by effectively executing the internal operations and systems of the church in order to fulfill the mission and values of POPLC. The D.O. reports to the Senior Pastor and Church Council to ensure operations support the mission and ministry of POPLC.

While overseeing the operations team, their specific areas of responsibility will include: finance, property, information technology, communications, and human resources. Successful execution of this role will result in efficient uses of church operations, property, and resources to promote the mission of POPLC.
 

Duties and Responsibilities

Specific areas of accountability, under the leadership of the Senior Pastor:

● Ensures effective daily use of funds, while in communication with the Church Treasurer, to support the mission of POPLC

● Oversees the effective management and use of church property to support, not hinder, the mission of POPLC

● Work with the Senior Pastor to provide daily leadership for the operations staff while engaging fully with both the staff and congregation

● Recruit and lead volunteers effectively to further the responsibilities within operations

● Partner with the Church Council, under the supervision of the Senior Pastor, in the following ways:

○ Attend meetings as an active but non-voting member
○ Report on the current state and progress of operations
○ Serve as a member of the Finance Committee and Property Committee

● Motivate, inspire, and empower operations staff members, while managing outside vendors and contractors, to leverage their gifts and resources in support of God’s mission

● Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor or Church Council
 

Profile and Qualifications

The successful candidate must have a good balance of business and ministry mindedness. They will be a quick learner and ready listener with a professional background. A bachelor’s college degree is expected for this position. The successful candidate will possess the following skills:

● Critical thinking to translate strategic plans into operational requirements

● Proven leader with effective communication skills (verbal, written, and digital), able to multitask while maintaining organizational integrity and build teams

● Experience in property management

● Understanding of accounting, forecasting, budget development, payroll, and benefits

● Strong organization as well as relational skills

● Ability to motivate others and work effectively with staff and volunteers

● Ability to think in systems and policies while maintaining grace and flexibility

● Ability to lead in decision-making and conflict resolution with Grace and Truth
