November 2019 Message Series

Generosity can be a difficult topic. First, it’s personal. Second, it’s confusing. Is it Time, Talents, and Treasures?

Some would rather give time and cling to their treasure. Others don’t know what their talents are or how to use them in service to their neighbor. Still others would rather give their treasure to guard their precious time.

So, where do we turn for answers? During the month of November, we invite you to join us as we hear from Jesus and learn about His generosity that doesn’t make sense.

Join us Sundays at 8:00, 9:30 or 11:00am

November 3: The Laborers in the Vineyard
New Testament Reading: Matthew 20: 1-16
According to the world’s standard of generosity, the generosity of Jesus makes no sense. The laborers in the vineyard were demanding that God’s generosity conform to the world’s standard of generosity. How might you be doing the same?

November 10: The Parable of the Sower
New Testament Reading: Matthew 13:1-9
Every businessperson knows what the letters ROI stand for: Return on investment. The world asks, what is the ROI? This attitude leads us to be cautious and even stingy when it comes to generosity. If we were to review the ROI of God’s generosity, we would conclude that He is foolish and even wasteful with His generosity.

November 17: The Great Banquet
New Testament Reading: Luke 14:7-14
Often our lives of generosity are dominated by “Quid Pro Quos.” I’ll do that for you if you do this for me. I’ll give generously to the Church as long as it’s doing what I want. I’ll be generous as long as ________. The generosity of God gives without expecting anything in return. As redeemed children of God, we already possess everything in Christ which sets us free to give without expecting anything in return.

November 24: The Unforgiving Servant
New Testament Reading: Matthew 18:23-35
When you are shown generosity and you in turn do not show generosity – that makes no sense. Therefore, a Christian who is stingy and not generous makes no sense.

November 28: The Parable of the Talents (THANKSGIVING EVE)
New Testament Reading: Matthew 25: 14-30
When we are thankful for what we have been given, we are more likely to be generous.
