A Four Month Journey
The first four words of the Bible, “In the beginning, God,” establish a fundamental truth – God demonstrates grace apart from human effort or performance. The grace alone nature of God is revealed in His activity as well as His name.
Throughout the first five books of the Bible, known as the Torah, the ancients recognized God by His covenant name – Yahweh (which means “I am”). Yahweh (I am) created all things good but a curse came upon this good creation through the sin of Adam and Eve. Despite their rebellion against their Creator, Yahweh (I am) graciously sets into motion a series of covenants (promises) that will redeem broken people and restore all of Creation.
It is through Yahweh’s creative and covenant-making grace that the image of the invisible God is revealed in Jesus of Nazareth.
NEW! Devotions for Each Week
It is our desire to help you engage in this sermon series in an impactful way. In addition to the sermons on Sunday mornings, we encourage you to dig deeper and explore God’s Word through weekly devotions prepared by POP Staff and Elders.
The devotions include both Old and New Testament readings, a memory verse and next step. We invite you to prayerfully engage in the devotion prior to each Sunday morning. A PDF version of the In The Beginning…Grace devotion booklet can be accessed HERE. Copies are available at the Information Center and church receptionist desk.
