Children move through the preschool day with a mixture of child-initiated and teacher directed activities. Through the Learning Center approach, children learn through play, experimentation, and exploration while practicing social skills, fine motor skills and expanding their language development.
Learning Centers are set up to reflect the "theme" that is being studied by the class. Each preschool class participates in a weekly Chapel Service with short story, song and prayer to praise God. They also enjoy a special time with our music teacher providing rhythm, marching, singing and musical games. P.E.(Creative Movement) will warm up those little muscles and may include a visit to Peter Pan in Neverland; travel to the Savanna in Africa or a run through the waterfall while we grow stronger, work on fine motor control, jump rope preparation skills and hand-eye coordination.
A special "Leadership Day" is assigned each child usually every 4 to 6 weeks. On that day the child will bring a snack for his classmates, a "show and tell" to share and perhaps be line-leader or place the calendar day on the board.
We realize that all children travel through the same developmental stages and that God has a time table for each child. Through the Learning Center approach there are activities that will challenge and teach children at whatever stage they may be in at the time.
