POPCS Helps Individuals In Need

During the month of May, the POPCS community displayed true generosity by hosting two separate fund-raisers to help support people in need.

Our POPCS community donated 4 large barrels full of food for the Metrocrest Social Service.  Metrocrest Social Services is dedicated to providing short-term emergency services to residents in our surrounding community. Your generosity will provide many local underprivileged families a warm meal.  A special thanks to Valerie Swenson for her vital role in the food drive.

A line of shoes in all colors and sizes lined POPCS’ hallways, beginning at the main school entrance and ended with a loop around the preschool hallway.  POPCS collected approximately 500 shoes for the “Shoes for Souls” shoe drive.  All sandals, crocs and summer type shoes will be donated to the children of Mercy Missions in Nigeria.  All other shoes will support the Buckner Children's Home.  This fund-raiser was a success with the help of Robin Smith, Shannon Sharp, Tracey Hardwick, Lynn Keckonen and the POPCS family members who supported the shoe drive.

To our dear POPCS family and friends,

We will never be able to thank you enough for sharing in God’s plan for the children of Mercy Missions in Otutulu Village, Nigeria.  As a family, we are in awe of God’s plan for the five of us as we will travel there in June to minister to these children.

Our team was speechless, humbled by the generosity of Prince of Peace Christian School as we packed nearly 400 shoes for our trip, that you graciously gave from your heart. What an awesome testimony you have been to our community and an even bigger blessing to these sweet children. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

At the beginning of next school year, we will be thrilled to share with you our journey and how you have blessed children in a world that most will never experience.  We pray that God will bless you richly for your kindness.  We ask that you pray for us and our team as we travel deep into the Congo to minister to people who have so little.

Again, we’ll never be able to thank you enough but, please know that we’re praying for God’s goodness upon each one of you.

Many Blessings,

Kirk, Tracey, Luke, Landon and Lacey Lynn H.

POPCS is honored that so many parents, students and staff members shared their blessings with others in need.

PSA Volleyball Team

Volume II

Summer Reading – Book Donation:  We are beginning a new program called “Volume II”.  After your children finish their summer reading books, we are asking you to consider donating the books to POPCS.  All books may be dropped off at the Lower School Library.  The books will be stored during the school year.  At the end of the year Used Uniform Sale, the used books will be available for purchase at a reduced rate.  We hope this will make it easier to find that all elusive children’s novel with which your children can do their summer projects!  All proceeds will go to the library fund.  Thanks for your support as we begin this new program.

Movical

A full audience arrived to watch POPCS’ Preschool and K-prep students showcase their singing and dancing ability at this year’s Movical.  Students have been working hard memorizing different songs and routines based on the theme “I’m following Jesus.”  Not only is this a fun event for the children, but research has shown that increased motor skills and musical development enhances children’s neural pathway development.  Neural pathway development is necessary for children’s reading, writing and mathematical skills, as well as their physical, social and cognitive development.  The event ended with a well deserved round of applause for the students’ performances.
