Practical Ministry Skills
THIS Saturday, May 3 POPLC is hosting a Stephen Series Caring Ministry
Workshop from 9am - 1pm. This workshop is an excellent opportunity for
church leaders and other members to learn about the Stephen Series, a
ministry system that equips and mobilizes laypeople for effective caring
ministry.
At
the workshop, you will experience a sample of the training Stephen Ministers
(lay caregivers) receive and you will take home practical knowledge and
skills on “Ministering to Those Experiencing Grief” and “How to Care in a
Distinctively Christian Way.” You will also learn why churches from more
than 100 different Christian denominations use the Stephen Series for
training and organizing laypeople for one-to-one caring ministry.
This workshop is FREE to all POP
members! For
more information, or to register for the Caring Ministry Workshop, call
Stephen Ministries at 314-428-2600. You can also register at
www.caringministry.org. We hope
to see you at the workshop!

Care
Food Pantry
May Day…just how many of us can still
remember when as children we made little paper baskets and picked some
violets and delivered them to folks in our neighborhood? Maybe
we should go back to simple ways of showing our love for our neighbors.
The support that the congregation of Prince
of Peace gives to our Food Pantry and the Ministries we partner with
continues to show many people in need that we love them.
Wish list for May:
Pancake syrup
Saltine crackers
Cookies
Jelly
Canned ham
Canned chicken
Hamburger Helper
Cereal (not oatmeal we have plenty of it)
Also, we are partnering with Missions again
this month to help stock the kitchen in the Habitat for Humanity house.
We need new
kitchen items like a toaster, a can opener, dishes, linens, flatware and
pots & pans. Please include the
receipt so that if we get two of an item we can exchange it prior to sending
everything on to the house.

KidZone Summer Programs - WE NEED YOU!

What a year it's been in KidZone! It's hard to believe the last day of our current program is almost here. However, we are excited about the summer programs we have planned.
To ensure these programs are safe and fun for your children, we are in need of a wide range of volunteers. If everyone would serve just one Sunday this summer, we will have the number of volunteers needed to make these programs a great success! It takes a village to raise a child!
Please look over your summer schedules, review the dates below and sign up for one of these dates by sending an email to me. I'll be in touch to answer any questions and find the perfect spot for you!

Please
continue praying for Tobias as he recovers! Praise the Lord for the
insurance that Susan and Tobias have. We are thrilled that he has been
discharged and will be under Susan's care for the next two weeks.
Greetings. At long last no more oxygen pipes from today in the
morning
and I have been discharged from the hospital and given a two weeks
sick-off by the Doctor to make sure that I take full and proper
rest. I
should come back for an appointment on 12th for a chest xray and
further check up. The medical cover has paid most of the bills
though
I have taken an extra Kshs. 16,005 from a friend to avoid being
detained in the hospital to clear everything and get my pills. I
still
ask for your prayers as I take the medication and count on the cost
of
ministry in Obunga. Be praying for my family and my wife who has
been
going through alot of difficulty with school work, kids and my
hospitalization. God bless and thanks for loving our family as we
are.
Yours in Christ Jesus,
Pastor Tobias A. Omollo
Proverbs 3:5,6. "Commit your ways to the Lord and lean not on your
own
understanding…."
